THE expressions of delight and excitement were seen on each of the special children from Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Istimewa Sayang (Sayang) as they enjoyed their Hari Raya shopping trip, courtesy of the Curve.

As part of its commitment to reach out to the community during Ramadan, the Curve invited the children from Sayang, a centre that cares for children with autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome and multiple disabilities, for a Hari Raya treat at its premises.

The management and staff of the Curve greeted the children and their caretakers at the shopping mall’s Centre Court, which had an Arabian-influenced Souk Bazaar theme for its Hari Raya decor.

The children were brought to Kwikcut to have new haircuts, followed by a spot of shopping to select new baju raya at MJ by Metrojaya.

The highlight was when local personalities Jehan Miskin and Farid Kamil made an appearance to interact with the children, and stayed on for a buka puasa dinner at Eden Restaurant with them.

“This is the first outing for today’s group of 19 children comprising nine girls and 10 boys,” said Sayang principal Faridah Zainuddin.

“We kept the event details a secret until they came to the Curve, hence they’re very surprised and excited about the activities lined up for them.

“All the children look forward to showing off their new looks and clothes when they celebrate Hari Raya with their families.”

The Curve centre manager Adele D. Flores said: “This is our way of caring for other members of the community, particularly the less fortunate people, and sharing the festive spirit and joy with them,” she said.

Flores added that each child received a goodie bag with items sponsored by the Curve’s management and tenants, including a school bag, stationery, colouring books and pencils, and some duit raya.
